Sands and The Fertility Partnership
By Patrick High, SANDS Corporate and Trust Fundraising Officer

Did you know that The Fertility Partnership support a charity picked by the staff every two years, and that not only does every clinic give £5 for every fresh IVF cycle they do, but the staff also do their own fundraising? If you didn’t we’re not surprised: we didn’t until we were chosen as their charity partner! And so we would like to say a huge heartfelt thank you to the staff at The Fertility Partnership for selecting Sands as their charity partner.

So who are we? The death of a baby can affect anyone regardless of beliefs or background and sadly a family experiences this tragedy every 90 minutes in the UK. This means that every day in the UK 15 babies are stillborn, during or die shortly after birth. Sands, the stillbirth and neonatal death charity, exists to reduce the unacceptably high rate of stillbirth and neonatal deaths and to provide and improve the care bereaved parents and their families receive.

With the support of companies like the Fertility Partnership we are able to reduce the number of babies dying, by funding vital research into the causes of these deaths and raising awareness of safer pregnancy and medical care. Their efforts will also allow us to provide support for families and their loved ones if the worst does happen. And we really appreciate the fact that The Fertility Partnership obviously cares deeply about babies and their families, in the good times and the bad, in their support for our work.

Boston Place Clinic’s fundraising will help us to continue provide support and improve the care parents receive in London. Local groups in the area provide support for bereaved families and support materials like memory boxes. Along with providing this support money raised will be used to fund healthcare professionals in the area to attend bereavement care training ensuring families who experience a bereavement receive the best care possible.

If you would like to learn more about our work or to talk about ways you can fundraise for Sands please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Thank you
